The Carroll Police Department reports an Audubon woman was taken into custody over the weekend for operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content (BAC) nearly three times the legal limit. According to authorities, an officer was traveling northbound on Noble Avenue at approximately 11:27 p.m. on Friday evening when he came across a vehicle in the ditch on 190th Street. The officer proceeded to check with the driver, identified as 60-year-old Susan Lois Petersen, to determine if everything was okay. Petersen displayed signs of intoxication, including poor balance, slurred speech and bloodshot and watery eyes. A preliminary breath test returned a BAC of .239, and she was taken into custody for first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor. Petersen was transported to the Carroll County jail and released the following day on her own recognizance.
