Area residents will be able to take to the Carroll city streets in coming weeks after approval of closures for the first 5K Block Party in June and then the Sesquicentennial celebration in July. On June 15, Kerp’s Tavern, Anytime Fitness and Carroll Brewing Company will be hosting the block party, which will start off in the morning with the run/walk and culminate that afternoon and evening with live music and a beer garden on 5th Street from Clark Street to the alleyway east of Court Street. Brad Burke outlines the group’s request for the street closure.
Members of the police department will be stationed at some of the busier areas of the 5K route to help ensure the safety of all. Executive Director of the Carroll Chamber of Commerce, Shannon Landauer, explains what street closures will be done on Friday, July 19 in the downtown district.
This plan will allow for the grillers to have a way to exit the area without disturbing the other activities taking place later in the day. They will also have the route for Saturday morning’s kids’ parade closed off for a short period. Then on the rest of Saturday, many of the events will be localized in the Graham Park, Rec Center, Merchants Park and aquatic center area so that portion of Grant Road will be closed off to allow for safe pedestrian traffic. More details about both events can be found through the links included below.
