Drivers on Saturday took a risk just by being on the Carroll streets with a reported five accidents in just shy of nine hours. The Carroll Police Department responded to all five, starting with assisting the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on Kittyhawk Avenue at around 7:44 a.m. The next call came in at approximately 8:31 a.m. A 2014 Ford F-250, driven by 61-year-old Michael Haubrich of Arcadia, was eastbound in the 700 block of East 22nd Street when he struck a parked 2013 Toyota Camry. Haubrich was cited for failure to maintain control. Officers responded to Highway 30 and Boylan Avenue at approximately 9:27 a.m. A 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by 50-year-old Juli Sump of Omaha, Neb., was eastbound on Highway 30. At that same time, a 2017 Ford Explorer, driven by 48-year-old Teresa Irlbeck of Westside, pulled out from a parking lot in front of the Sump vehicle. No injuries were reported and Irlbeck was cited for failure to yield before entering a highway. The final two accidents were sideswipes during lane changes. The first, at about 10:50 a.m., was at Highway 30 and Grant Road. Thirty-year-old Christine Wiederin of Glidden was eastbound on 30 in a 2013 Buick Enclave. Eighty-one-year-old Margaret Schramm of Sac City was also eastbound in a 2018 Buick Enclave. Schramm attempted to change lanes and struck the Wiederin vehicle. The other accident was at approximately 4:23 p.m. in the 1100 block of Highway 30. Seventy-six-year-old Pamala Hall of Manilla was westbound on 30, driving a 2000 Ford F-150. Seventy-seven-year-old Rosemarie Kruse of Carroll was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala westbound as well. Kruse attempted to change lanes and hit the Hall vehicle. No injuries were reported in either incident and both Schramm and Kruse were cited for improper lane changes.
