The City of Lake View and Sac County Sheriff’s Office have entered into an agreement that would lay the groundwork for a backup communication center in their city hall. Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the council was brought a proposal during their meeting last week.
This would cover nearly all types of potential disasters at the Sac County Courthouse, including tornadoes, fires, flooding, power outages and the like. Peterson says the proposal does not ask the city to build an entirely new comm center.
From the city’s side of things, all they need to do to prepare this back up location is to ensure they have enough space and the proper ports and plugins for authorities to connect their existing equipment in the event of an emergency. Peterson says the cost to complete this is almost nonexistent and officials were supportive of the idea.
The council unanimously approved the agreement with the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. Peterson says there is still a lot of work that is yet to be completed before the back up communication center is ready for use, but they will begin preparations for the new center with help from the county.
