The Carroll Police Department has logged 14 fireworks complaints between Wednesday, July 3 and Sunday, July 7. This also resulted in at least six individuals receiving citations for violating the City of Carroll ordinance prohibiting the use of anything other than novelty fireworks. Only one report was noted for July 3, but there were a total of six on July 4. Twenty-four-year-old Keyera Wilson was cited following a complaint in the 1000 block of Woodland Drive and 37-year-old Juan Maldanado Lopez for one in the 200 block of North Grant Road. The remaining seven reports came in on July 5, 6 and 7. Citations issued during that timeframe include: 38-year-old Kenneth Harris in the 500 block of E. 18th Street; 28-year-old Jesse Seyler in the 300 block of E. 2nd Street; and 19-year-old Ezara Dirx and a 14-year-old male in the 800 block of W. 3rd Street. Sales of fireworks in the state of Iowa will close today (Monday).
