New playground equipment is going up in Lake City’s Goins Park early next month, and city officials are still looking for individuals interested in lending a hand. The council purchased $33,000 in climbing equipment from Boland Recreation in Marshalltown near the beginning of the year, and initial plans were to have it installed before the start of summer break. However, heavy rains throughout the spring and scheduling issues prevented the project from moving forward. Installation is now slated to occur on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Volunteers are asked to contact city hall at 712-464-3111 prior to that date for more information on how they can assist.
