A Carroll man arrested and charged with a home invasion in Storm Lake last weekend and with waving a handgun at a convenience store clerk in June has now been tied to a stolen vehicle. On Sunday, July 21, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was notified that a 2004 Chrysler 300M had been stolen out of the parking lot of a restaurant/bar. The reporting party told officers the ignition key had been left in the vehicle. On Thursday, July 25, the car was found abandoned on a city street. Investigators then recalled that 18-year-old Boumkouth Mach Lol had a key fob to a Chrysler vehicle in his possession when he was arrested Sunday morning. A search warrant was obtained and the key seized from Lol’s property at the Buena Vista County jail, where he is still being held. The department was able to positively match it to the stolen 300. Now, in addition to felony burglary and assault charges and aggravated misdemeanors for carrying weapons and assault while displaying a weapon, Lol is charged with motor vehicle theft, a class D felony. He remains in custody on a $41,300 bond.
