Twenty-nine of the 409 4-H exhibits judged on Tuesday, July 9 at the Carroll County Fair in Coon Rapids will be showing at the Iowa State Fair. Five of those entries were in the Animal, Ag and Natural Resources category that encompasses a broad spectrum of animal science, crop production, environmental sustainability and even safety and education in shooting sports. Eleven of the qualifying projects were in the Creative arts, which included music, photography, educational displays and visual arts. Family and Consumer Sciences and Personal Development will see nine local 4-H projects traveling to Des Moines early next month on child development, clothing and consumer management, food and nutrition, health, citizenship and civic engagement as well as communication and digital storytelling. Finally, four entries from the Science, Engineering and Technology category will showcase engineering in technology and woodworking. A full listing of all Iowa State Fair qualifiers and their entries can be found with this story on our website.
