The application period for grants from the Audubon County Community Foundation is now open. As part of this grant cycle, more than $40,000 will be available to be awarded to various non-profit organizations and community projects that benefit the residents of the county. Of the funds available, $2,350 is reserved for the Exira area, $2,015 for the community of Audubon and the remaining $37,150 will be distributed throughout the county. Interested applicants must demonstrate broad community and county support and be classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit or fiscally sponsored project to be eligible. The deadline to submit applications is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 1 and can be completed at www.swiowafoundations.org. Selected organizations and projects will be notified of their award near the end of October. These grants are made possible through donations to the Audubon County Community Foundation, which is led by a board of six members: Chair, Genelle Deist of Audubon; Vice Chair, Joel Hoegh of Brayton; Sec./Treas., Barbara Johnson of Audubon; Gina Benton of Exira; Bob Blomme of Audubon; and Megan Wagner of Audubon. More information on the application process and contact points for application-related questions can be found included with this story on our website.
