Carroll County Supervisors Approve Purchase Of New Ambulance

The Carroll County Supervisors have been reviewing and comparing prices of different options for the replacement of one of the ambulances for the Carroll County Ambulance Service. Since late June, they have been diving into the pros and cons of new and demo units, and even a 2016 demo model that had never been put into service. Bids that were received showed a negligible cost difference between like demonstration units and new, with the 2016 diesel at over 10,000 miles totaling just slightly over $250,000, a 2019 diesel with 4,245 miles at a little more than $266,000 and a brand new diesel at $270,414.45. These prices also include a new heart monitor with a price tag in excess of $31,500. The 2019/2020 F-450 4×2 Feld Fire ambulance includes custom graphics and everything needed for the power load. The board approved this model for purchase. The county will be trading in one of their other rigs in conjunction with this, and believe they can get at least $12,000 in that deal.
