The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will gather for a special meeting tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon to open and read sealed bids from contractors for the Carroll County jail project. Bid opening commences at 1 p.m. in the supervisors’ meeting room at the Carroll County Courthouse and will be followed by comments from individuals in attendance, which the board can limit to five minutes. Construction on the two-story, 16,800 square foot structure will begin in the area to the west of the existing courthouse soon after a bid is awarded. The proposal passed a November 2018 referendum with over 62 percent of county voters in favor of the project. Current estimates place its cost at approximately $8.95 million. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
