East Sac County Schools Start 2019/20 School Year With New Superintendent And Elementary Principal

One of the hardest working men in education, Jeff Kruse, is once again sharing superintendent duties in three districts, Ar-We-Va, South Central Calhoun, and now in 2019/20, his first year at East Sac County Community School District. Kruse says that he and the board thought this would be a natural progression because of his experience and residency within the area when long-time superintendent, Barb Kruthoff, announced her plans for retirement.

Kruse began orientation in February, all in preparation for the new school year, which begins for students on Friday, Aug. 23. There are some projects started over the summer at different buildings, he says, that are currently still in process.

There will be a number of new staff joining the team this year, with six teachers and a new elementary principal, Sara Pibal, who will serve at both the Wall Lake and Sac City buildings. New teachers and mentors are starting today (Monday) and then rest of the inservices for all staff will take place from Tuesday, Aug. 20 through Thursday, Aug. 22. Kruse says as he comes on board, he and the rest of the leadership realize there are several different challenges the district is facing and looking to address.

Students will spend Friday going through different forms of orientation to get acclimated and will run on an abbreviated schedule to kick-off the new year. Kruse jokes that the first football game of the season is between East Sac County and South Central Calhoun and he has already been asked for which team he will be rooting. He says he is just hoping for a well-played game. A link to the East Sac County website for more information and important dates can be found below.
