Details Released On Accident Last Week That Knocked Out A Power Pole

Authorities have released details of a single-vehicle accident last week that broke off a power pole. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports they were called to the scene on 190th Street at approximately 6:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. A 2008 Honda Fit Sport, driven by 15-year-old Gabriel Michael Jacobs of Carroll, was westbound on the gravel road when he got too close to the edge. Jacobs overcorrected and began fishtailing. He was unable to regain control and the Honda entered the north ditch, where it traveled until it hit a utility pole, snapping it off at its base and leaving it hanging dangerously close to the roadway. The vehicle then rolled onto its top. Jacobs and a passenger, 13-year-old Tierney Hunter, were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. The Jacobs’ vehicle was totaled and there was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the pole. Jacobs was cited for not having a valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control.
