Minnie Boner of Lake City

Minnie Boner, 94, died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. Celebrant will be Father Lynn Bruch and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lohrville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m.
Minnie Viola (Cafferty) Boner, daughter of Merritt and Mary (Anthony) Cafferty, was born on January 15, 1925 on the family farm south of Rinard, IA. She was one of ten children, was raised on the farm, attended Rinard School and graduated from Somers High School in 1942. On May 20, 1946, Minnie was united in marriage to Ezra Boner at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rockwell City and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage before Ezra’s death in 2016. Seven children were born to this union. The couple farmed north of Lohrville until 1978 and lived on the farm until 1985 when they moved to Lake City, IA.  Minnie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Joe’s
and she enjoyed sewing, quilting and crossword puzzles.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ezra in 2016; son James in 2016 and Mark in 1949; grandson David Elsasser in 2016; sisters Gladys Anderson, Beulah McClure, Leota Kelly, Iola Staley and Violet Stamp; brothers Dale Cafferty and Lyle “Bud” Cafferty; sons-in-law Tom Bryne and Jack Elsasser. Left to mourn her passing is her children Martha (Mick) Parker of Lake City, Mary Elsasser of Omaha, NE, Kevin Boner of Lake City, Ruth (Vance) Overton of Indianola, IA, and Jean (Steve) Swenson of Osage, IA. Grandchildren: Gene (Carlene) Boner of Hastings, NE, Maureen (Jeff) Dreith of Lincoln, NE, Jeff (Heather) Elsasser of Bellevue, NE, T. J. Elsasser of LaVista, NE, Nick Elsasser of Omaha, NE, Kyle Overton of Indianola, Travis Overton of Ankeny, Megan (Alex) Steele of Cedar Rapids, Alex Swenson of Ames, and Lauren Swenson of Osage; and also 9 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Edith Knittig; brother Loren Cafferty; her dear cousin Dorothy Siemann; sisters-in-law Rosie Boner and Pauline Boner and
many nieces and nephews.
