The first day of autumn is Monday, Sept. 23, and the Lake City Betterment Association is celebrating the change of seasons with their annual Fall Fest this weekend. Betterment Director, Mackenzie Gorden, says many people’s schedules are filled with school back in session, fall sports seasons underway and harvest just around the corner. To help alleviate this, she says they opted to schedule the event later this year than they had in the past.
Fall Fest begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 in Lake City’s town square and community building. The focus has always been on family fun, and Gorden says that has not changed for this year.
She notes there is still time for parents to get their kids signed up for the prince and princess competition, and details on how to do so can be found included with this story on our website. Fall Fest generally pulls a large number of vendors for its vendor fair every year. According to Gorden, more than 50 have already registered to set up shop in the square and community building through the day. One of the most well-attended activities during Fall Fest is the Dell Blair Memorial Chili Cook-off, and Gorden says there are several ways for chili-lovers to participate.
Fall Fest comes to an end at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. A full schedule of events, registration details and more can be found included with this story on our website.
