The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will begin their regularly-scheduled Monday, Sept. 30 meeting by entering into a closed session at 9 a.m. The agenda states that, per Iowa Code Chapter21.5(1)(c), this will be to “discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the government body in that litigation.” They will also hold a public meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the Motorola proposal for the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS) lease and then consider the lease of radios to use on that system. Another public hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on a Fiscal Year 2020 budget amendment. The board will then review the county’s employee handbook, bring back a discussion on compensation for those taking over the planning and zoning and GIS positions due to the pending retirement of current commissioner and director, Carl Wilburn, and approve a revised start date for the new IT technician, Dalton Morrison of Manning. The supervisors will also hold a special meeting next week. They will convene at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to discuss and potentially finalize a bond purchase agreement for the Carroll County jail project. Copies of both agendas can be found below.
