According to trial information filed Wednesday, 19-year-old Tyraius Percel McElroy faces one count of first-degree robbery, a class B felony, and one count of first-degree theft, a class C felony. The charges stem from an incident during the early morning hours of Sept. 19. The Carroll Police Department alleges McElroy assaulted the victim and took his wallet. While McElroy was leaving the scene, the victim attempted to stop him by reaching through the window of a BMW 525I and was dragged by the car until he let go. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14 at the courthouse. If found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to 35 years in prison and ordered to pay a maximum of $10,000 in fines. McElroy was released from the Carroll County jail on Sept. 21 after posting a $25,000 bond.
