Gov. Reynolds Makes Annual Roadway Proclamation For Harvest

On Monday, Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, made official the annual proclamation allowing oversize and overweight loads of grain on Iowa roadways for the fall harvest season. The 60-day window allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage and stover to be up to 90,000 pounds of gross vehicle weight without a permit. This applies to loads transported on all highways within Iowa, but does exclude the interstate system. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) will be monitoring the declaration to ensure public safety and to facilitate movement of trucks involved in the harvest. The proclamation will expire at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 29.
