Denison Woman Gets Jail Time After Pleading Guilty To Theft Charge In District Court

A Denison woman has been ordered to serve time in the Carroll County jail after pleading guilty to stealing from a local retailer. According to court records, 55-year-old Jill Renea Matthews entered the Carroll Bomgaars at approximately 5 p.m. on March 16 and took more than $450 in goods from the store. She was sentenced Monday on one count of fourth-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor, to 60 days incarceration with all but two days suspended, which must be served by the end of the year. Matthews was placed on informal probation for one year. She was also ordered to pay fines, surcharges, restitution, court costs and attorney fees totaling $1,800.
