Carroll PD Cracking Down On Owners For Pets Running At Large

After seeing an increase in the number of calls received about dogs running loose throughout the community, the Carroll Police Department has issued a reminder to all residents. City Code, Chapter 55, requires that anytime an animal is off of the resident’s property, it must be on a leash. A State Code, 351, says the animal’s owner is responsible for any damage to property or injury to humans or other animals if they are deemed to be at large. The Carroll PD will be impounding any animals found to be unleashed and any and all costs incurred will be assessed to the owners. They could also be cited for violation of the code. Authorities are suggesting that pet owners be proactive and install above- or in-ground fencing to contain their animals.
