The Jefferson Police Department received a call from 32-year-old Brittany Smith at approximately 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. She said some items were missing from a residence on North Chestnut Street. Officers took the report of an allegedly stolen laptop, coins and three cell phones. Smith also provided the name of a male suspect to aid the officer in an investigation. During this interview, however, the officer became aware of the fact that Smith was wanted on outstanding warrants in Greene County for first-offense possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and first-offense possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, both serious misdemeanors, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Smith was arrested on the warrants and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center.
