Closed Session Farmland Sale Discussion And Communication Tower Request On Agenda Monday For Carroll Supervisors

At last Monday’s Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting, it was decided that future conversations about the prospect of selling the estimated 111-acre county-owned farmland on north Mahogany Avenue will be held in closed sessions. This is exactly what will take place immediately after calling their next meeting to order at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4 in the board room at the Carroll County Courthouse. Iowa Code 21.5(j) allows for the closed session as the disclosure of specific information could be detrimental to receiving the best bids possible. Once they return to regular session, the supervisors will discuss utility permits, bringing back a debate on whether or not to allow a private business, Windstream Communications, to situate 100 to 140 foot towers in the right of way along county roadways. They will also review the current reimbursement rate for the Department of Human Services (DHS) and determine if it is time to make a change. Elderbridge Agency on Aging will be presenting their funding request for Fiscal Year 2021 before supervisors review manure reports and adjourn. The public is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.
