St. Anthony Is At The Head Of The Class In Patient Safety

St. Anthony Regional Hospital has been nationally recognized again for the outstanding care given to patients served in the west central Iowa region. They have announced an A rating in the fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which is an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of health care committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns As, Bs, Cs, Ds or Fs to all general hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care. Patient safety, according to St. Anthony CEO and President, Ed Smith, is one of their top priorities. “Our medical staff takes great pride in caring for the patients of west central Iowa. This safety ranking highlights not only the outstanding work our doctors, nurses and skilled professionals do every day, but also their ability to make a difference in the lives of our community members.” The peer-reviewed method measures publicly available hospital safety data for more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals two times per year. The results are free to the public and can be accessed online at hospitalsafetygrade.org. St. Anthony has also been named one of the top 100 hospitals for 2019.
