Greene County Authorities Come To The Aid Of Motorists Monday Morning

Greene County authorities were kept busy assisting motorists Monday morning. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to three reports of vehicles in ditches and assisted one motorist with the first at approximately 7:25 a.m. and the final reported incident at 9:11 a.m. A deputy assisted a trooper with the Iowa State Patrol with a truck that went off the roadway and into the ditch on U.S. Highway 30 west of Jefferson near K Avenue. This was followed by a motorist assist at about 7:39 a.m., again on U.S. Highway 30 near Hillcrest Avenue, to the east of Scranton. Their final call came in at 9:11 a.m. as a deputy was called to Highway 4 near 300th Street, south of Jefferson. A damaged vehicle was located in the ditch and an investigation initiated to locate the owner and learn the cause. Authorities remind all motorists to exercise caution on winter roadways. Drivers should allow extra time to get to their destination, slow their speed, remain safe distances from other vehicles, slow and stop with caution and refrain from using their cruise control.
