Art lovers are invited to Whiterock Conservancy this weekend to celebrate the works created by a recent artist in residency. Nancita Wernett is a sculptor and painter from Guthrie Center and completed her residency earlier this year from Aug. 5 to Aug. 25. Since its creation nearly a year ago, Whiterock’s artist residency program has hosted 10 different painters, photographers, welders and sculptors. Each resident stays for two to four weeks at the River House on Fig Avenue and attempts to capture the natural beauty of Whiterock. Wernett’s work completed during this time will be on display from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Bur Oak Visitor’s Center. She will be available to speak about her various works, including platters formed with clay sourced from Whiterock Conservancy. All of Wernett’s pieces will be available for purchase at the end of the event.
