Lake City residents are invited to join in a celebration of the holidays during the Lake City Betterment Association’s annual Christmas Festival this weekend. Activities begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in the Community Building, and Director, Mackenzie Gorden, says they have scheduled over two hours of entertainment for people of all ages to enjoy.
They have dinner for that night covered too. For a freewill donation, attendees can grab a meal of cheese soup, chili, hot dogs and cookies. Gorden says money raised from the community dinner will benefit local organizations.
The highlight of the Christmas Festival every year is the lighting of the community tree in the bandstand on the square at 6:15 p.m. Gorden says the holiday parade will begin just a few minutes later.
The parade begins on the north side of the square, turns south at North Center Street, heads west at Main Street and ends in the Shady Oaks parking lot. All activities, except for the dinner, are free for attendees to enjoy.
