Parents of five local students will have $1,000 deposited into their child’s College Savings Iowa Accounts, courtesy of the Iowa Student Loan Save Now, Save Later: College Savings Plan Parent Giveaway. The 50 2019 winners were announced Thursday and include: Kiley Todd of Holstein; Patricia Soppe of Carroll; Wendy Baudler of Panora; Deb Gress of Charter Oak; and Jeff Bruck of Denison. Registration for the program ran from September through October and was open to Iowa residents who have students in six through 12th grades at an Iowa school. Parents had a chance to review the Parent Handbook, an online educational module from Iowa Student Loan. They received financial literacy tips via text and video as well. More than 3,500 qualified entrants were then pooled together and the 50 winners drawn at random.
