Multiple area agencies responded this (Friday) morning to a house fire five miles northeast of Glidden. At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Glidden and Ralston Fire Departments, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the 31000 block of 162nd Street near Dickson Timber County Park for the reported fire. While checking the house for occupants, first responders located an unresponsive male, who was later pronounced dead. Glidden Fire Chief, Tom Weber, says the cause of the fire is believed to be an overheated wood-burning stove, but is not considered the cause of death. The State Fire Marshall’s Office was contacted, and they determined a response was not needed based on information from Weber and the Carroll County Medical Examiner’s Office. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
