Another county in our region will be going to the voters, requesting their approval to build a new law enforcement facility. Guthrie County Supervisors have set March 3, 2020 as the date for the referendum on their up to $8.715 million center. The proposal for the 14,800-square-foot facility includes 28 beds with the ability to increase to 32 with second bunks. It will also include five classification units and four intake holding cells. They have made provisions for the ability to expand by 16 beds in the future. The plan will require the addition of three more staff members to operate the facility. The law enforcement center will be constructed adjacent to the existing courthouse in their ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and for operational effectiveness.
