Darlene Pruter of Bayard

Darlene Ann Pruter, age 85, of Bayard passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.
A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Church of Christ in Bayard with Pastor Bob Rogers officiating.  Urn bearers will be Darlene’s grandchildren.  Inurnment will be in the Highland Township Cemetery near Bayard.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2020.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home of Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com   
Darlene Ann Pruter was born on October 9, 1934 on her family’s farm near Varina, IA.  She was the daughter of Nicholas and Lillian (Aigner) Schnetter.  She grew up on the farm and graduated from St. Columbkille High School in 1955.  She was married to Ronald J. Pruter on June 23, 1956 in the Carroll County Courthouse.
Darlene and Ron lived in numerous towns over the years. She worked in different nursing homes and hospitals in the laundry and housekeeping departments. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants and watching birds on her feeders. She loved to go to second hand stores and find figurines, mainly cats.
Darlene is survived by her children Michael Alan Pruter (Rose) of Bayard and Carol Haswell (Bob) of Ashland, NE; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister Lucille Gamble of Pocahontas, IA; two brothers: James Schnetter (Vicki) of Tucson, AZ, and Leonard Schnetter (Debra) of Pocahontas, IA; two sisters-in-law: Mal Schnetter of Alta, IA, and Karen (Schnetter) Huhn of Coon Rapids, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Ronald J. Pruter; her parents Nicholas and Lillian Schnetter; her in-laws Julius  and Laurinea (Schultz) Pruter; a son Francis Pruter; a sister Kathleen Schnetter at age 2 1/2; a grandson Nicholas Haswell and three brothers: Dennis, Robert, and Edward Schnetter.
