Trial information was filed in District Court for Carroll County Monday against a Carroll man accused of having sexual contact with a juvenile. According to court records, 35-year-old Timothy Shane McFarland is formally charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, class B felonies. An investigation by the Carroll Police Department alleges McFarland engaged in sex acts with the victim from August of 2012 to November of 2015. The victim was between the ages of seven and 11 years old when the incidents occurred. McFarland was released from custody at the Carroll County jail on Dec. 27 after posting a $25,000 surety bond. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13. A class B felony carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
