A Carroll man who faces two counts of second-degree sexual abuse in District Court for Carroll County has entered not guilty pleas to the charges. According to court records, 35-year-old Timothy Shane McFarland filed his written pleas to the class B felonies Wednesday. An affidavit from the Carroll Police Department alleges McFarland engaged in sexual contact with a juvenile victim between August of 2012 and November of 2015. Authorities say the victim was between seven and eleven years old when the incidents occurred. McFarland has waived his right to a speedy trial, and jury proceedings are scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 24. A pretrial conference is slated for Feb. 27. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
