Donald O’Tool

Lake City – Donald O’Tool, 91, died Friday, January 10, 2020, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. with a funeral service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City.  A private family burial will be held on Monday at the Carroll City Cemetery.
 
Donald Edward O’Tool was born on September 15, 1928, in Auburn, Iowa, to Edward and Nettie (Olerich) O’Tool.  On September 15, 1949, Donald married Clarice Nelson at First Baptist Church in Lake City and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage.  Donald was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher, and longtime deacon. He was also a member of Farmer’s Coop, Calhoun County REC and Corn Belt Boards, Cottonwood Cemetery Board, and Jackson Township Trustee.
 
Donald is survived by his wife Clarice of Lake City; daughters Kathryn Holm of Lake City, Donita (Sheldon) Petersen of Leesburg, VA and Julie (Peter) Gutgsell of Jericho, VT; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Gary Holm.
