Four Manning community organizations will share in $5,600 from the 2019 Refresh Manning Trust Fund program’s distribution of five grants last week. Main Street Manning was the recipient of two separate grants. The first of $1,000 will be used to provide a portable and flexible public address system for use by community organizations and for popular events such as the annual Main Street Sip ‘n Shop and the weekly farmer’s markets in the summer months. The second of $1,160, will complete phase three of the downtown streetscape project. Manning Parks and Rec was also granted $1,160 and they will use the funds to purchase imagination play items for the Manning City Park. These will replace the stage coach and train that are wearing out and need to be removed for safety reasons. The Wolf Care After School Program has been provided with $1,160 to purchase educational toys and STEM kits for their four- to 11-year-old students. And finally, the Manning Hausbarn-Heritage Park received an award of $1,120 for the purchase of two mini-iPads. These will be used to enhance the self-guided tours offered in the park, telling the stories of the many features and elements throughout the site, documenting the history, heritage and quality of each building. To date, the Refresh Manning Trust has distributed more than $72,000 through the public and private donations received. For more information or to make a donation to the trust, call Main Street Manning at 712-655-6246.
