St. Anthony Nursing Home is limiting visitation due to a prevalence of influenza and influenza-like illnesses. Only adult, healthy, immediate family members may visit nursing home residents at this time. As they work to protect residents and patients, they encourage individuals with any flu-like symptoms, including fever, chills, body aches, cough, fatigue, sore throat and headache, to avoid visiting the hospital or nursing home while contagious. Individuals may be contagious for up to seven days after the onset of symptoms. St. Anthony is also cancelling daily mass until this round of illnesses pass. Community members are reminded of flu prevention tips: get vaccinated, it is not too late; wash your hands often to kill bacteria and prevent the spread of disease; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, particularly after you have come into contact with others; and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze to ovoid passing on germs. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact St. Anthony Nursing Home at 792-5291.
