Joy Ann Gregory, age 88, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Glidden United Methodist Church with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Music for the service will be by Mary Ross. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 – 9:45 A.M. on Saturday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
Joy was born on January 1, 1932 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Roy and Beatrice (Long) Solt. She grew up in the Lanesboro – Glidden area and graduated from Glidden High School. Joy was united in marriage to Bill Gregory on June 7, 1952. The couple made their home in Ralston where they raised their two children: Dennis and Nancy. Joy and Bill lived in West Des Moines for six years where she worked in food service for the Clive Elementary School. After moving back to Glidden she worked with the Head Start Program in Carroll. Joy and Bill loved spending time at their lake home in Lake View. Joy enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family.
Joy is survived by her children: son Dennis Gregory (Lori) of Glenwood, IA; daughter Nancy Stark (Dick) of Breda; five grandchildren: Katie Halouska (Shane) of Rapids City, SD, Scott Gregory (Hannah) of Denver, CO, Morgan Stark of Breda, Mitchell Stark of Lake View, and Sarah Stark of Des Moines; two great-grandchildren: Matthew and Emilia Halouska; a sister-in-law Ruth Johnson of Glidden; three brothers-in-law: Robert Gregory (Mary Ann) of Ralston, Bud Gregory of Medford, OR, and Raymond Gregory of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband Bill Gregory on October 15, 2019; her parents Roy and Beatrice Solt; three sisters: Marjorie Peters (Don), Mavis Shoemaker (Bruce), and June Wishman; two brothers: Wilford and Don Solt; and her mother and father-in-law George and Evelyn Gregory.
