There is no better way to look ahead towards some beautiful weather than to break out a golf club and have a great time at the fourth annual Putt 4 a Purpose mini golf event Saturday, Feb. 1. Summer Parrott with Beta Sigma Phi, the mini-golf hosts, says this fun 18-hole outing has grown a little every year.

There has been a fan favorite hole for several years running.

This coincides with the Fairytale Ball the same day, so Parrott says they are promoting it as a mother/son outing. However, the young ladies have plenty of time to get a round in before getting ready for their party. The proceeds raised are designated for a different charitable organization or effort each year, and this year’s golfers will be supporting the St. Anthony Cancer Center. Katie Decker, a medical dosimetrist at St. Anthony, says it is exciting to see the changes on the $16.5 million 21,000 square-foot center.

The first year Putt 4 a Purpose was held at the armory, but Parrott says Rueter’s on Radiant Road has donated their space since.

The doors will open at noon and golfing is available until 6 p.m. Local mascots will be at Rueter’s from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and they will have face painting, temporary tattoos, food trucks, door prizes and more. No registration is required and the cost is only $5 per golfer. Kids three and under are free.
