Greene County authorities believe shots fired northeast of Jefferson on Sunday night were likely those from coyote hunters. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports they were contacted at approximately 8:38 p.m. about the gunfire, with the caller stating they thought someone was shooting at horses in the 500 block of Orchard Avenue. No horses were injured and the investigation led them to the conclusion the horses were not the intended targets.
