Lake City Council To Restore Goins Park Tennis Courts To Green Space

The Lake City Council is moving forward with plans to tear out the tennis courts in Goins Park and restore the area to green space. According to administrator, Eric Wood, the courts have deteriorated to the point that repairing them would be too costly and their best option is to remove them altogether. City staff and volunteers are expected to remove the fence and tear out the concrete and asphalt sometime this spring. The site will be reseeded with several tables installed to create a space for parents and guardians while their children are at the nearby swimming pool. The city has already arranged for waste removal and fence storage, so there are only nominal costs associated with the project. The city council does not have any plans at this time to build replacement tennis courts.
