This coming Saturday, Feb. 15, Sac County Conservation, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be hosting a free youth ice fishing clinic. Children in grades one through seven, with an accompanying adult, will learn more about ice fishing and safety at the Lake View Library before heading out to Black Hawk Lake to try out what they have learned. Personal ice fishing gear is encouraged and it is recommended to be sure and dress for the weather. Snacks and hot cocoa will be provided. The group will meet at the library at 9 a.m. There is no charge for the program, however, preregistration is required. This can be done through the contact points included below.
