Jefferson Man Faces Drug Charges After Refusing Commands From Law Enforcement To Exit His Home

A Jefferson man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after locking himself inside his home and refusing to comply with commands from law enforcement to exit the structure. At approximately 1:51 p.m., an officer with the Jefferson Police Department spotted 19-year-old Nicholas Weber walking in the 200 block of North Oak Street. Weber, who had an outstanding Greene County arrest warrant for probation violation, entered his residence and locked himself inside. After repeated instructions from law enforcement to open the door were ignored, officers made entry into the residence and took Weber into custody. While inside, the officers detected the odor of marijuana and requested a search warrant. At approximately 4:07 p.m., authorities executed the search warrant and recovered a substance believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending the return of laboratory results. Weber also faces an unrelated felony drug charge in District Court for Greene County stemming from a traffic stop in Jefferson Feb. 1. He was formally charged Monday with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class D felony.
