The Audubon City Council has scheduled the public hearing for the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 budget for their next meeting on March 9. Clerk, Joe Foran, says city officials are happy to report they are proposing a decrease to their total property tax levy.
For FY20, property owners paid $22.75 per $1,000 of taxable valuation, compared to the $20.67 proposed in this budget. Foran says revenues for FY21 are expected to outpace the prior year due to the favorable increase in valuations.
Foran says current estimates show the city will have a $350,000 surplus, with expenditures around $7.25 million.
Again, the public hearing for the FY21 budget will take place during the council meeting on Monday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall. Individuals with concerns or questions about the budget are strongly encouraged to attend. The deadline for cities to formally approve their budget is March 31.
