The Glidden City Council has scheduled the public hearing on their proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Budget for their Monday, March 9 meeting. City officials are proposing a general property tax levy rate of $11.63574 and $3.00375 on agricultural land, an increase of over 52 cents per $1,00 of taxable valuation from FY20. Both revenues and expenditures are projected to more than double in next year’s budget due to the construction of a $3.6 million wastewater treatment facility on the east side of town, which is scheduled to begin later this fall. Total revenues are estimated at $7.26 million, compared to $3.34 million for the current year. It is a similar situation for expenditures, which are projected to come in at $7.37 million, compared to $3.53 million in FY20. The proposed budget shows an estimated ending fund balance for June 30, 2021 of $3.7 million. The public hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 9 at Glidden City Hall. Individuals with questions or concerns about the budget are encouraged to attend. A copy of the budget to be published can be found included with this story on our website.
