Iowa Ranks As Third-Most Woman-Friendly State In The Nation

In 1987, the United States Congress approved a joint resolution declaring March Women’s History Month to celebrate the critical contributions women have made throughout our nation’s history. Today (Monday), WalletHub released its 2020 report on the most woman-friendly states in the country, with Iowa ranking as one of the best in third. Scores were calculated on 24 weighted metrics, including median earnings, unemployment rates, job security, access to affordable healthcare, friendliness toward working moms and more. Iowa was tied for first with the lowest women’s unemployment rate in the nation, fifth in high school graduation rates, seventh in uninsured rates and 10th for median earnings when adjusted for cost of living. Iowa is considered third for women’s economic and social well-being and 10th for women’s health and safety and in the top 20 for female poverty rates, quality of women’s hospitals and many others. Massachusetts was ranked the top state followed closely by Minnesota. Mississippi and Lousiana ranked the worst at 50th and 51st, respectively.
