Carroll Police Department Responds To Two Accidents At Same Intersection Only 20 Minutes Apart On Wednesday

Within a 20-minute timeframe on Wednesday morning, the Carroll Police Department responded to a pair of two-vehicle accidents at the same intersection. Officers were dispatched at approximately 8:41 a.m. to the intersection of Highway 30 and Quint Avenue. Their initial investigation determined 65-year-old Monica Nellesen of Carroll was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2016 Ford Fusion and entered the intersection with a green traffic signal. As she proceeded through the intersection, Nellesen noticed a temporary stop sign had been set up and braked. A 2016 Ford F150, driven by 49-year-old Jason Verschoor of Odeboldt, failed to stop in time and rear-ended the Nellesen car. Functional damage was reported to both vehicles. A similar accident occurred at the same intersection at approximately 9 a.m. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 63-year-old Daniel Clark of Glidden, was westbound on 30 and did not notice the temporary stop sign until entering the intersection. He was struck from behind by a 2004 Ford Escape, driven by 28-year-old Kelsey Powell of Carroll. Disabling damage was reported to the Powell SUV.
