Manning Woman Charged With Theft And Criminal Mischief Arrested Saturday

A Manning woman accused of stealing and destroying a cell phone was taken into custody Saturday on an outstanding warrant. According to Carroll County District Court records, 40-year-old Hollie Lynn Marie Butler was arrested by the Manning Police Department on charges of third-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief, aggravated misdemeanors. Authorities say Butler took a Dollar General employee’s Galaxy S-10 phone, valued at over $900, from the cashier counter at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 27. She is accused of later destroying the device. Butler’s initial appearance was held Monday, and she has been released on her own recognizance. Her next court hearing is scheduled for March 26. An aggravated misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
