More than 150 subcontractors are on site at Scranton Manufacturing, working around the clock to restore production systems following a fire that broke out at around 11:23 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24. “We are blessed that no one was injured, and we are well on the way to restoring production,” says Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Don Ross. “However, we have experienced a temporary outage that will result in production delays. We are thankful to our dealer network and customers for their support of New Way during this difficult process, and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience this outage is causing,” Ross adds. A majority of their workers were able to return to work the week of March 2 and all are expected back this week in various capacities, with many returning to production roles. No employee benefits were interrupted during the temporary outage. The fire, which broke out in a paint booth, damaged only a small area of the facility. The bulk of the estimated $1 million, and possibly up to $2 million, in damages resulted from smoke and soot. Scranton Manufacturing is the parent company of New Way Trucks with locations in Scranton, Carroll and Booneville, Miss.
