Bill Schumacher, 79, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. Celebrant will be Father Lynn Bruch and burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lake City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a scripture
prayer service at 7 p.m.
William Schumacher was born on May 20, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa, to Jacob and Margaret (Mayer) Schumacher. After graduating from Mt. Carmel High School in 1958, he joined the Army National Guard. On January 21, 1967, Bill married Jeanne Bohnenkamp at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. He worked as a farmer and crop insurance adjuster.
Bill is survived by his wife Jeanne of Lake City; children Lisa Schumacher of Waukee, Tracey Schumacher of Mt. Carmel and Marc (Susi) Schumacher and their children Sammy and Max of Lake City; sisters Joan Buss and Lois (John) Smith; sister-in-law Jean T. Schumacher all of Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children Michael and Kathlyn Schumacher; brother Duane Schumacher; sister Dolores Hagemann; brothers-in-law John Buss and Norbert Hagemann; nieces and nephew Doug, Pam and Sue Ferden; great-niece Jill Schumacher; and parents-in-law Aaron and Margaret Bohnenkamp.
