The Sac City Council has approved a resolution setting aside more than $63,000 in their Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 budget to support community events and non-profit organizations. According to Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, city officials generally allocate between $55,000 and $80,000 for this purpose on an annual basis. This year’s contributions include $20,000 to the Sac Community Center and Kids World Daycare Center, $9,000 to Sac City Chamber Main Street, $3,330 to Sac County Economic Development and Tourism and more than $1,000 to a variety of different agencies or events. Lawrence says the amounts donated vary from year to year due to ongoing capital projects, debt service and other similar reasons. In the last five years, the most contributed was $79,930 and the least was $57,930.
