Those in the area looking for a summer job have the opportunity to apply to work at one of our area state parks. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now taking applications for seasonal park aides at Black Hawk State Park in Lake View, Springbrook outside of Guthrie Center and Prairie Rose near Harlan. Duties of a park aide include general park, trail and facilities maintenance, park rule enforcement, public programming and invasive species control. Applications are due by April 8 and applicants must be 18 years of age or older, able to communicate well with the public, be willing to operate a variety of equipment such as mowers, tractors and chainsaws, must possess a valid driver’s license and be available for various shifts not to exceed 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and holidays. Starting wage is $11.30 per hour. Preference is given to those who are in a natural resource-related field of study. A listing of mailing addresses for application submittal can be found below.
